Wardle, Elizabeth (1834–1902), embroiderer and businesswoman, was born in Leek, Staffordshire, on 28 October 1834, the eldest daughter among the three children of Hugh Wardle (1802–1860) of Overton Bank, Leek, and his second wife, Elizabeth Young (1802–1871).
