Toledo, John of (d. 1275), abbot of L'Épau and cardinal, was according to Matthew Paris and the Winchester annalist of English birth. Possibly he acquired his toponym from residence at the schools of Toledo, which were frequented by English scholars in the early thirteenth century. ...
