Healy, Cahir (1877–1970), politician, was born on 2 December 1877 at Doorin, near Mountcharles, co. Donegal, the son of Patrick Healy, a Roman Catholic small farmer. He attended the local national school, which was 'mixed' in the religious sense, a factor which inculcated in him a broad-minded tolerance which was to pervade a long political career.
