Turnbull, Colin Macmillan (1924–1994), anthropologist, was born on 23 November 1924 at Highfield, Northwick Avenue, Wembley, Middlesex, one of two sons of John Rutherford Turnbull, chartered accountant, and his wife, Dorothy Helena Wellesley, daughter of the Revd Arthur Wellesley Chapman of Toronto.
