Richardson, Josephine [Jo] (1923–1994), politician, was born on 28 August 1923 at The Gables, Elswick Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, the second among the three children of John Joseph Richardson, a textile manufacturer's agent, and his wife, Florence Rose, née Bicknell.
