Redman, Roderick Oliver (1905–1975), astronomer, was born on 17 July 1905 at Rodborough, near Stroud, Gloucestershire, the eldest child and only son of Roderick George Redman, an outfitter, and his wife, Elizabeth Miriam Stone.
