Byrne, Miles (1780–1862), Irish revolutionary and officer in the French army, was born on 20 March 1780 at Monaseed on the borders between co. Wexford and co. Wicklow, the son of Patrick Byrne (d. 1796), a farmer, and Mary Graham. His family were Catholic petty gentry in a region that was marked by sectarian tensions. ...
