Séquard, Charles Édouard Brown- (1817–1894), physiologist and neurologist, was born on 8 April 1817 in Port Louis, Mauritius, the only son of Edward Brown (1784–1817), captain in the United States merchant service, and Charlotte Perrine Henriette, née Séquard (1788–1842).
