Uvedale, Robert (1642–1722), schoolteacher and botanist, was born on 25 May 1642 in the parish of St Margaret, Westminster, the third son of eleven children of Robert Uvedale (d. 1683), innkeeper, and his wife, Margaret, formerly Smith.
