Tudor, Jasper [Jasper of Hatfield], duke of Bedford (c. 1431–1495), magnate, was probably born at Hatfield, the second son of Owen Tudor and Catherine of Valois (1401–1437), widow of Henry V. Jasper and his elder brother Edmund Tudor, half-brothers of Henry VI, were raised by nuns and, later, by priests in some privacy.
