Tannahill, Robert (1774–1810), songwriter, was born in Paisley on 3 June 1774, the fifth child of the seven sons and one daughter of James Tannahill, silk gauze weaver from Kilmarnock, and his wife, Janet Pollock, daughter of a farmer near Beith.
