Sydenham, Thomas (bap. 1624, d. 1689), physician, was baptized on 10 September 1624 at Wynford Eagle, Dorset, the third surviving son of William Sydenham (1593–1661), a gentleman, and Mary Jeffrey (d. 1644), of Wynford Eagle. His parents had nine sons (four died early) and five daughters. Little is known of his early life, though he must have had the equivalent of a Latin-school education....
