Salomons, Sir David, baronet (1797–1873), banker and politician, was born in London on 22 November 1797, the second son of Levy Salomons, a stockbroker whose family was of Dutch Ashkenazi Jewish (German and Polish) origin, and Matilda de Metz, of Leiden.
