Ainslie, Henry (1760–1834), physician, the second son of James Ainslie, a physician of Kendal, was born on 21 March 1760 at Carlisle, Cumberland. After a sound education in Kendal he entered Pembroke College, Cambridge, in 1777; he was senior wrangler and second Smith's prizeman in 1781, and became a fellow of his college in 1782.
