Leeds [Lydes], Edward (d. 1590), civilian and college head, was born at Benenden in Kent, the second son of William Leeds and Elizabeth Vinall. He graduated BA from Cambridge in 1542–3 (disproving the statement that he was a 'monk of Ely'), proceeded MA in 1546, and was created LLD in 1568. ...
