John of Bridlington [St John of Bridlington, John Thwing] (c. 1320–1379), prior of Bridlington, was born in the Yorkshire village of Thwing in the Wolds, some 9 miles west of Bridlington, to a distinguished family with extensive landholdings in the East Riding.
