Hawkesworth, John (bap. 1720, d. 1773), writer, was born in Tottenham Court, London, and baptized on 28 October 1720 at St Pancras, the second of three children of John Hawkesworth (d. 1752), a watch engraver, and his wife, Ann, née Cornford.
