Jetto, Henrie Anthonie (1569/70–1627), yeoman, first appears in English records at his baptism on 3 March 1596, at which time he was twenty-six years old. Nothing is known of his parentage; however, he was described in Worcestershire records as a ‘Blackemore’, a ‘Black’, and his last name ‘Jetto’, from ‘jet’, meaning black, also referenced his skin complexion.
