Sante, John (d. 1496), abbot of Abingdon, is of unknown origins, and very little can be said about his early life, except that after becoming a Benedictine monk at Abingdon Abbey he must have spent several years studying at Oxford, since he was a doctor of theology by the time of his election as abbot on 29 November 1468....
