Friswell, James Hain (1825–1878), writer, was born on 8 May 1825 at Forton, near Newport, Shropshire, the youngest son of William Friswell (c.1794–1856), solicitor, of 93 Wimpole Street, London, and Henrietta Hain of Bath.
