Wall, Joseph (1737–1802), army officer and murderer, was born in Dublin, the eldest son of Gereld or Garrett Wall, a well-to-do tenant farmer on the estate of Sir John Denny Vesey, second baronet, near Abbeyleix in Queen's county.
