Wilson, Sir Geoffrey Masterman (1910–2004), barrister, diplomatist, and public servant, was born at Winterbourne, Storeton Road, Tranmere, Birkenhead, on 7 April 1910, the third son and youngest child of Alexander Cowan Wilson, civil engineer, and his wife, Edith Jane, née Brayshaw.
