Charlton, Lionel (1720?–1788), schoolmaster and topographer, was probably born on 2 December 1720 at Upper Stobbilee in the parish of Bellingham, Northumberland, and baptized on 22 December 1720 at Bellingham, the son of Peter Charlton.
