Mylne, James (1738/9–1788), poet and tenant farmer, was the son of George Mylne (d. 1744), farmer, of Barns, Haddingtonshire. A precocious poet, Mylne seems to have inked a small collection of juvenile verse while attending the grammar school of Dalkeith.
