Gwent, Richard (d. 1543), clergyman and canon lawyer, was the son of a Monmouthshire farmer. He was elected a fellow of All Souls College, Oxford, in 1515 and on 17 December 1518 became a bachelor of civil law, and of canon law on 28 February 1519.
