Farquhar, John (1751–1826), merchant and entrepreneur, the son of John Farquhar, was born at Bilbo, in the parish of Crimond, Aberdeenshire. Born of humble parents, at the age of fifteen he was awarded a bursary to attend the Marischal College of Aberdeen.
