Edwards, Bryan (1743–1800), planter and politician, was born at Westbury, Wiltshire, on 21 May 1743, the eldest son of Bryan Edwards and his wife, Elizabeth Bayly. His father inherited a small estate of about £100 per annum which proved to be a scanty income for his large family.
