Braden, (Dorothy Kathleen) Norah [Lise] (1901–2001), potter, was born on 19 July 1901 at 1 Marine Drive, Margate, Kent, the daughter of John Templeton Braden, stationer, and his wife, Jessie Norwood, née Arnold. Multi-talented, she finally decided on a career in pottery after exploring other art forms (she was for example a skilled violinist, or fiddle player as she preferred to say, and gave public performances during the First World War).
