Coleridge, Derwent (1800–1883), writer and educationist, was born on 14 September 1800 at Greta Hall, Keswick, Cumberland, the second of the three surviving children of the poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772–1834) and his wife, Sara (1770–1845), daughter of Stephen Fricker of Bristol.
