Miller, James Arthur (1855–1939), rugby administrator and schoolmaster, was born in Leeds on 19 January 1855, the son of Joseph Miller, an engineer, and his wife, Elizabeth. He first played rugby in the 1870s as a pupil at Leeds middle class school, an Anglican establishment which specialized in science and technology.
