Hayward, Frank Herbert (1872–1954), inspector of schools and author, was born on 16 December 1872 at Wotton under Edge, Gloucestershire, the son of John Hayward, a bootmaker, later of 56 Seymour Road, Bristol, and his wife, Anne Lydiard.
