Stokowski, Leopold Anthony (1882–1977), conductor and organist, was born on 18 April 1882 at 13 Upper Marylebone Street, Marylebone, London, the first of three children of Kopernik Joseph Boleslaw Stokowski (1862–1924), cabinet-maker, and his wife, Anne Marion (1858–1952), daughter of Thomas Moore, journeyman bootmaker....
