Boys, William (1735–1803), surgeon and topographer, was born in Deal, Kent, on 7 September 1735, the eldest son of Commodore William Boys (1700–1774), afterwards lieutenant-governor of Greenwich Hospital, and Elizabeth Pearson of Deal.
