Wintringham, Sir Clifton, baronet (1710–1794), military physician, was born at York, the son of Clifton Wintringham (bap. 1689, d. 1748) and his first wife, Elizabeth, née Nettleton (d. 1737). He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge, being admitted on 17 July 1728, becoming a scholar in 1730, and graduating MB in 1734 and MD in 1749.
