Liddell, Sir John (1794–1868), naval medical officer, was born at Dunblane, Scotland, in 1794. After entering the navy as an assistant surgeon in 1812, he served in France, North America, Portugal, and the West Indies. He graduated MD at Edinburgh University in 1822 and became LCS (Edin.) in 1821....
