The November update adds 23 new articles featuring 26 lives and 5 portrait likenesses of opera singers and recitalists. The focus of this release – curated by Dr Andrew Lamb and Christopher Webber – is on opera singers and recitalists of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

The daughter of an East End draper’s assistant, Adele Leigh sang the opera classics at Covent Garden, in New York, and in Vienna, but she also appeared with Harry Secombe at the London Palladium.
