This month’s update adds 36 new lives, with a focus on women’s citizenship and social action in the early twentieth century – local councillors, voluntary workers and organizers, magistrates, benefactors – introduced by Dr Eve Colpus and Dr Anne Logan.
The National Spinsters’ Pensions Association was the largest women’s campaigning group in the 1930s. Its founder Florence White, whose fiancé had died in 1917, ran a confectioner’s shop in Bradford.
