Valentine, Lewis Edward (1893–1986), Baptist minister and Welsh nationalist, was born at Hillside, Llanddulas, Denbighshire, on 1 June 1893, the second of seven children of Samuel Valentine (1854–1940), a quarryman and lay preacher, and his wife, Mary, née Roberts (1865–1928).
