Janoušek, Karel (1893–1971), officer in the Czech air force, was born in Přerov, Moravia, on 30 October 1893, the son of Karel Janoušek and his wife, Adelheid. During his national service with the Austrian army he fought in Italy in the First World War, but then joined the renegade Czech Legion, fighting alongside the Russians and against the Austrians, on the eastern front.
