Dragonetti, Domenico Carlo Maria (1763–1846), double bass player and composer, was born on 7 April 1763 in the parish of San Gervasio and San Protasio, Venice. Of his parents, Pietro Dragonetti and Cattarina Calegari, little is known, although it is speculated that his father played both the double bass and the guitar and may have been a gondolier.
