Horn, Charles Frederick (1762–1830), musician, was born on 24 February 1762 in Nordhausen, Germany, the third of four children of ‘John’ (presumably Johann) Wolfgang Horn (b. 1737, d. before 1793) and his wife, Sophia Dorothea, née Shenaman (1735–1798).
