Cradock, Phyllis Nan Sortain [Fanny] (1909–1994), television chef, was born on 26 February 1909 at Apthorp, Fairlop Road, Leytonstone, Essex, the daughter of Archibald Thomas Pechey, corn merchant, and his wife, Bijou Sortain, née Hancock.
