Rhind, David (1808–1883), architect, was born in the parish of St Giles, Edinburgh, on 11 January 1808, the son of John Rhind, writer (lawyer), cashier to the Edinburgh Friendly Insurance Company of Scotland, and his wife, Marion Anderson.
