Millar, Eric George (1887–1966), librarian, was born in Fulham, London, on 24 October 1887, the elder child and only son of George Thomas John Millar (1855–1889), barrister, and his wife, Edith Mary (1862–1942), daughter of Thomas Anstey Guthrie of Kensington.
