Thorne [née O'Bryan], Mary (1807–1883), Methodist Bible Christian preacher, was born on 3 April 1807 at Gunwen, Luxulyan, Cornwall, daughter of William O'Bryan (1778–1868), founder in 1815 of the Bible Christian Connexion, and his wife, Catherine (née Cowlin). Mary and her two brothers and five sisters were brought up in a Wesleyan Methodist household until 1815, when they became Bible Christians.
