Wickham, Sir Henry Alexander (1846–1928), plant collector and planter, was born in Hampstead, London, on 29 May 1846, and baptized at St Luke, Westminster, on 2 July 1846, the elder son of Henry Wickham, solicitor, and his wife Harriette née Johnson. His father died when he was four. He was raised by his mother, who ran a business as a dressmaker and milliner, was placed in the hands of creditors in 1858 and was adjudged bankrupt in 1866....
