Bruce, Sir James Lewis Knight- (1791–1866), judge, was born at Barnstaple on 15 February 1791, the youngest son of John Knight of Fairlinch, Devon, and his wife, Margaret, the daughter and afterwards heir of William Bruce of Llanblethian, Glamorgan.
