Walcot, William (1874–1943), architect and artist, was born at Lustdorf, near Odessa, Kherson, Russia, on 11 March 1874 os, the elder son of Enoch Shannon (1854–1895), known as Frank Walcot, a travelling merchant, and his wife, Catherine (1853–1940), daughter of Gottlieb Reichert, a Russo-German steppe farmer.
