Kelly, James Fitzmaurice- (1857–1923), historian of Spanish literature, was born in Glasgow on 20 June 1857, the eldest son of Colonel Thomas Kelly, then of the 40th foot but formerly of the Egyptian police, and his wife, Catherine, née Fitzmaurice.
