Bressey, Sir Charles Herbert (1874–1951), civil engineer, was born at Wanstead, Essex, on 3 January 1874, the son of John Thomas Bressey, architect, and his wife, Mary Elizabeth Farrow. He was educated at Forest School, Walthamstow, and at Bremen and Rouen, before becoming articled to his father in 1891.
